During the June 2011 meeting a summer challenge was offered to members. Each member could take a 10″ square of fabric and using the12″ Sawtooth star/Evening star pattern make as many blocks as they could using the fabric. There were even extra pieces for those especially industrious of the group. Blocks were collected in September and plans were started on how to best use them. Work slowed down a bit as the Veteran’s Quilt project expanded and ultimately led to 104 quilts provided to local shelter housed veterans.
But as time permitted we were able to use the blocks to assemble 4 charity quilts. When the membership was gathered for the September 2012 meeting, suggestions on recipients were collected. The quilts went to the organizations or people who got the most votes. The quilts and their recipients follow.
